The secret to good people watching is to never make eye contact.
In order to conceal someone’s identity, newspapers and other popular media censor out a person’s eyes with a black bar. This makes them anonymous. However, there is more to revealing a person’s identity than through his or her eyes.
Because of our own personal experiences, biases, prejudices, predispositions, and imagination, we can complete an individual’s identity on our own – even with the soul’s windows blotted out.
Long live Gestalt!
